OpenAI Adds Scheduled Tasks to ChatGPT

The update turns ChatGPT into a proactive assistant that runs reminders, recurring prompts and web monitoring on a schedule.

Overview

  • OpenAI began rolling out the redesigned Scheduled Tasks hub on June 17–18 and the feature is reaching paid web and mobile subscribers in Go, Plus, Team, Pro, Business and Enterprise tiers.
  • A new Scheduled page in the sidebar gives users one place to view active automations, see next run times and pause, resume, edit or delete tasks.
  • Scheduled Tasks can send reminders, run recurring prompts and monitor the web or connected apps, and the system only notifies users when it finds something worth reporting.
  • OpenAI enforces operational limits to keep the system stable: tasks run at most once per hour, unattended tasks may auto‑pause after inactivity, and each subscription tier has a cap on active tasks (examples reported: Go 3, Plus 5, Business 10, Pro/Enterprise up to 15).
  • The release replaces ChatGPT’s Pulse feature with a 14‑day migration window and is reported to run on a beta GPT‑4o variant, a move that both sharpens automation reliability and ties more automation capacity to paid plans.
