OpenAI Adds iCloud Mail and Calendar Plugins to ChatGPT

They let ChatGPT act on iCloud email and calendar items once users grant access with app-specific passwords.

Overview

  • OpenAI announced the new iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar plugins on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, and the company says they are live on web, desktop and iOS for all ChatGPT plans.
  • The calendar plugin can read, schedule, and update events while the mail plugin can search, read, draft, send messages and look up iCloud contacts.
  • Users must enable each plugin separately in ChatGPT’s Plugins settings and connect using an Apple app-specific password so ChatGPT can access only iCloud accounts.
  • The integrations are limited to iCloud addresses ending in @icloud.com, @me.com or @mac.com, so other accounts added to Apple’s Mail app like Gmail or Outlook need their own connections.
  • Both plugins work with OpenAI’s always-on Dots agents and can be combined in multi-step workflows, a move that expands convenience but raises fresh questions about privacy and how ChatGPT will sit alongside Apple’s built-in assistant.
