One UI 8.5 Adds Expiration Controls for Samsung Routines

The change lets Galaxy users set temporary automations that turn themselves off.

Overview

  • A new “Keep routine until” setting lets routines run forever, just once, or until a chosen end date.
  • Selecting an end date opens a calendar picker to schedule when the automation stops.
  • The control appears for most routines but not for those started manually.
  • The feature is live on Galaxy S26 devices with stable One UI 8.5 and visible on Galaxy S25 units in the One UI 8.5 beta.
  • Samsung has also opened a quiet One UI 8.5 beta for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 in select regions, with a stable Android 16 QPR2–based release expected after testing and no firm timing for S25.
