Overview
- Odisha’s state dairy cooperative OMFED began charging Rs 4 more per litre across major milk variants on Sunday, May 3, following a government-announced revision.
- New consumer prices are Rs 54 for toned milk, Rs 58 for premium, Rs 60 for Gold Premium, and Rs 64 for Gold Premium Plus.
- Half-litre pouches now cost Rs 27 for toned and Rs 29 for premium, raising a routine buy by about Rs 2.
- To support producers, OMFED lifted the cow milk procurement rate by Rs 1 to Rs 39.05 per litre effective May 1, with buffalo milk reported up by Rs 1.60.
- The minister said higher processing and transport costs prompted the move and said OMFED still prices below private brands while keeping quality intact.
