Overview
- The remix and its Bardia Zeinali‑directed video were released Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, converting the album track “expectations” into a formal single and pushing it back into the conversation after the song first charted in June.
- Chappell Roan supplies a wholly new second verse that reframes the song from a queer perspective and marks Roan’s first feature on another artist’s track.
- The video stages Rodrigo and Roan on an 1980s‑style game show called The Big Expectations Show and features David Byrne as host Johnny Johnson plus a cameo from producer Dan Nigro.
- Rodrigo and Roan’s long creative ties — shared producer Dan Nigro, prior tour support and Roan’s appearance at Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival — shaped the collaboration and were emphasized in a joint Apple Music/Zane Lowe interview.
- The release was promoted with limited physical editions and coordinated media appearances, and it extends Rodrigo’s album cycle while highlighting queer representation in mainstream pop and Roan’s renewed pop visibility.
