Overview
- Olivia Munn published a recent Instagram clip that shows moments from the day of her 2023 double mastectomy in which her OB/GYN, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, comforts and stays with her before surgery.
- In the video Aliabadi tells Munn, “This stuff doesn't matter. I love you. I'm going to be there with you,” language Munn praised as evidence of the doctor’s compassionate care.
- Munn was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, kept the diagnosis private until March 2024, and underwent a series of procedures including reconstruction, a lymph node dissection, and later a partial hysterectomy and oophorectomy before announcing remission.
- Munn has used social media and interviews to urge patients to find medical teams that listen and to calculate a Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score as part of early detection and treatment planning.
- Her family has also been affected by the disease: in July 2025 Munn disclosed that her mother received the same diagnosis and completed a double mastectomy and chemotherapy, and the new footage may prompt more public focus on patient experience and supportive care.
