Overview
- A letter of intent announced June 18, 2026 commits Centrus Energy to provide a multi-year supply of high-assay low-enriched uranium, known as HALEU, to Oklo to support its reactor program.
- Centrus says the fuel would come from its American Centrifuge Plant in Pike County, Ohio, with initial deliveries targeted to begin in 2029 and enough material to power up to five Oklo Aurora units.
- The LOI is non-binding and leaves a definitive contract to be negotiated; the companies say the final deal may include prepayments from Oklo to help finance Centrus’s production build-out.
- Centrus plans to combine a previously awarded $900 million DOE HALEU task order with private capital to scale U.S. production, and both firms saw modest stock gains after the announcement.
- HALEU is scarce globally and this agreement aims to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers, support Oklo’s planned 1.2 GW Ohio campus, and create a clearer path for commercial advanced reactor deployments.
