Oklo Advances Idaho Reactor Under DOE Pathway as NRC Licenses Subsidiary for Isotope Sales

The move shifts the Aurora project into DOE-managed execution.

Overview

  • Oklo signed a DOE Other Transaction Agreement and won DOE Idaho approval of a Nuclear Safety Design Agreement for the Aurora powerhouse at INL under the Reactor Pilot Program.
  • With the OTA and NSDA in place, Oklo asked DOE to begin reviewing its Preliminary Documented Safety Analysis, moving the project into its next execution phase after a September groundbreaking.
  • The NRC issued a materials license to Atomic Alchemy, Oklo’s subsidiary, authorizing isotope handling at its Idaho Falls Radiochemistry Laboratory.
  • The license covers specific quantities and uses, including up to 2 Curies of Ra‑226 and calibration sources of Co‑60 and Am‑241, enabling initial commercial isotope sales and Oklo’s first revenue opportunity.
  • These steps do not replace NRC reactor licensing for power generation, and Oklo shares rose roughly 4.6%–5% in early trading following the announcements.
