  • The Dodgers have advanced Shohei Ohtani through staged hitting work that has moved from tee and soft-toss drills to coach-pitch batting practice and simulated at-bats on the Trajekt Arc machine.
  • Team officials say Ohtani will not pitch again this season and the club is treating him exclusively as a hitter to protect his left knee and right biceps.
  • Manager Dave Roberts and hitting coach Aaron Bates stressed that Ohtani has not yet taken live batting practice and that the team wants roughly 10 to 12 at-bats against pitching before activating him.
