Overview
- A Little Miami history teacher filed a federal lawsuit in the Southern District of Ohio seeking an order to rehang a “Hate Has No Home Here” poster.
- The school board voted 4–1 to remove the display after members said its LGBTQ flags would engage students on topics that trigger parental notice and opt-out rules.
- The superintendent had earlier written that the poster would not prompt instruction on sexual concepts and that judgment came after reviewing the display.
- The poster shows heart icons with an American flag, a peace sign, a rainbow Pride flag and a transgender Pride flag, and the teacher says it hung for about four years without complaints.
- The district said it cannot discuss the lawsuit and pledged to support students and staff while following state and federal law and board policies.
