OGDCL Confirms Oil, Gas Discovery at Baragzai X-01 in Kohat

CHDST-04 results point to commercial potential, according to the company’s PSX filing.

Overview

  • In a Feb. 20 notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the operator reported a discovery in the Lumshiwal formation at the Baragzai X-01 (Slant) well.
  • CHDST-04 over the Hangu and Lumshiwal intervals flowed 225 barrels of oil per day and 1.01 MMSCFD of gas through a 32/64-inch choke at 190 psig wellhead pressure.
  • Baragzai X-01 was spudded on Dec. 30, 2024 and drilled to 5,170 metres into the Kingriali formation.
  • Earlier cased hole tests in the Kingriali, Datta, and Samana Suk plus Shinawari formations also yielded oil and gas, underscoring multi-formation prospectivity in the block.
  • OGDCL operates the Nashpa licence with 65% working interest alongside PPL (30%) and GHPL (5%), and says the find will add to reserves and support indigenous supply; reports noted a separate Dars West-3 discovery a day earlier.
