- OGDC, which inaugurated commercial production Wednesday, reported roughly 15,000 barrels of oil a day and about 45 million cubic feet of gas from the Baragzai X‑1 well in the Nashpa Block of Kohat.
- The company calls Baragzai X‑1 the highest‑producing single well in Pakistan and estimates its crude flow at about 10% of national output.
- Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the added domestic supply could save about $329 million a year in foreign exchange by displacing fuel imports.
- To bring the well online, crews installed an 8‑kilometre pipeline to the Mela facility for processing at the Nashpa plant, with the gas stream now feeding the SNGPL pipeline network.
- OGDC plans to raise output by 2028 to about 25,000 barrels of oil a day, 60 million cubic feet of gas, and 200 metric tonnes a day of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and it will drill appraisal wells to size up the reservoir.
