Officials Identify Pedestrian Killed by BU Medical Center Shuttle as Alhanouf Alhazzaa

The vendor-operated shuttle's driver was taken off duty pending an investigation that has produced no charges.

  • Prosecutors named the victim as 40-year-old Saudi national Alhanouf Alhazzaa, identified by Suffolk County DA Kevin Hayden's office.
  • Alhazzaa was struck just before 8 a.m. on Oct. 6 near 77A Albany Street by a Boston University Medical Center shuttle, pinned beneath the vehicle, and pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Investigators worked with the Saudi consulate in Boston to locate and notify Alhazzaa’s family.
  • Boston University said the shuttle is owned and operated by contractor Academy Express, which employs the driver.
  • Academy Express removed the driver from all duties pending the outcome of the ongoing probe, and authorities have announced no charges or citations.
