  • Cadets in a 17-minute Army ROTC video posted Wednesday describe wrestling, stabbing, and disarming the shooter in their Old Dominion classroom.
  • They say Lt. Col. Brandon Shah lunged at the gunman after he asked if it was an ROTC class and fired, which gave students a chance to rush him.
  • Students recount prying the pistol from Mohamed Bailor Jalloh’s hand, clearing the last round, and then moving at once to treat the wounded.
  • Shah did not survive despite a tourniquet and care later taken over by Norfolk SWAT, while cadet Louis Ancheta was shot, received a chest seal, and underwent surgery.
  • Jalloh had pleaded guilty in 2016 to aiding the Islamic State and was on supervised release, and the FBI says it is investigating the shooting as a terrorist attack.
