Overview
- NITI Aayog prepared the plan and identifies it as its fifth city-economic-region blueprint after Mumbai, Surat, Visakhapatnam and Varanasi.
- The corridor integrates eight urban centres across roughly 11,892 sq km: Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Paradip, Choudwar, Khurda, Jatani and Jagatsinghpur.
- The integrated economy is estimated at about $22.4 billion in 2025, accounting for roughly 19% of Odisha’s output.
- More than 80 projects and over 30 policy measures are outlined across metal downstream, biotechnology, textiles, chemicals, tourism, education and IT.
- Connectivity proposals include three ring roads totaling about 645 km and new rail links between Puri–Konark (~32 km) and Konark–Bhubaneswar via Nimapara (~70 km).
