Odisha CM Unveils Rs 600 Crore Rayagada Package, Sets 80% Local Hiring Rule

Consecutive district visits pair new public works with major self-help group lending to accelerate regional development.

  • In Rayagada, 22 projects worth ₹238 crore were inaugurated and foundations were laid for 87 more valued at over ₹366 crore across roads, bridges, healthcare, schools and women-focused initiatives.
  • Majhi launched a ₹37 crore plan to improve and beautify the Maa Majighariani Temple and said proposals for indoor stadiums in every block and a medical college are moving forward.
  • Addressing women’s collectives in Rayagada, he cited about ₹200 crore in loans to 4,217 self-help groups in FY2025–26 and a network of 12,783 groups involving 1.52 lakh women.
  • A day earlier in Subarnapur, he rolled out ₹276 crore of works and announced another ₹633 crore, including a ₹557 crore river-based reservoir at Marudagochha and ₹126 crore in interest-free loans to 1,848 self-help groups.
  • The chief minister said Hindalco plans a ₹15,000 crore plant expansion in Rayagada and mentioned prospective projects by Vedanta and Utkal Alumina, presenting these as his announcements.
