Odisha Breaks Ground on New Assembly and Lok Seva Bhavan in Integrated Governance Campus

The integrated campus is designed to replace ageing facilities with scalable space for a larger House after delimitation.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid foundation stones on January 12 for a new Legislative Assembly, a new Lok Seva Bhavan and a separate elevated corridor project in Bhubaneswar.
  • The Assembly–Secretariat project is budgeted at ₹3,623 crore over about 71.13 acres under an approved master plan that includes underground parking and modern administrative facilities.
  • The new Assembly is planned with seating for 300, with the Chief Minister citing a likely rise in MLAs from the current 147 following delimitation.
  • Phase I will construct a 12‑storey secretariat with three basements and temporary office provisions, while Phase II will build the Assembly, which the government says will become operational after approval to establish an upper house.
  • The Jaydev Vihar–Nandankanan elevated corridor, estimated at ₹952 crore with a completed DPR and formal approval, will add flyovers at key junctions, a 4‑lane cable‑stayed bridge, and a planting plan for 22,410 trees.
