Odia Composer Abhijit Majumdar Dies at 54 Following Septic Shock in Bhubaneswar

  • The hospital said he suffered a cardiac arrest at 7:43 am on January 25 and was clinically declared dead at 9:02 am after ACLS-guided resuscitation failed.
  • He had been hospitalized since September 4 of last year, arriving in a comatose state and receiving prolonged care in the Medical ICU.
  • On November 10 he was moved to a medicine isolation ward, where he was conscious on a tracheostomy tube with stable vitals and was planned for discharge but was not released for family or personal reasons.
  • A new-onset fever detected on January 23 did not respond to treatment and progressed to refractory septic shock, according to the hospital bulletin.
  • AIIMS listed multiple comorbidities complicating his care, including osmotic demyelination syndrome, chronic liver disease, bilateral hospital-acquired pneumonia, a multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter bloodstream infection, electrolyte disturbances, and nutritional deficiencies, as tributes poured in from the Odia film community.
