Overview
- Construction has started on the SunRoper project in Wharton County, Texas, and partners expect the facility to begin commercial operations in December 2027.
- Developers OCI Energy and Arava Power say the installation will be 347 MWdc in most disclosures, though at least one report lists the site as 260 MW, a discrepancy that companies have not yet reconciled publicly.
- ING is providing construction-to-term financing, a tax equity bridge loan and letters of credit and is named sole coordinating lead arranger and green loan coordinator for the deal.
- WHC has been appointed the engineering, procurement and construction contractor and the project is backed by a long-term power purchase agreement with an undisclosed Fortune 100 company.
- SunRoper will export power to the ERCOT grid to help meet rising demand in the Houston region, represent roughly a $394 million investment during build, and continue OCI and Arava’s push to expand multi‑gigawatt U.S. development pipelines.
