Oakland Police Link Dismembered Remains Found Miles Apart to One Victim

An autopsy is pending to identify the victim and determine the cause of death.

Decomposing human limbs found in different parts of East Oakland last month belonged to the same person, police said.

Overview

  • OPD confirmed remains discovered on Feb. 1 and Feb. 16 in East Oakland came from the same individual.
  • The Homicide Section is leading the case as a homicide investigation, with no cause of death released.
  • Initial discovery occurred on the 9700 block of San Leandro Street near the Oakland–San Leandro border.
  • Additional limbs were found about two weeks later on the 1700 block of 37th Avenue in Fruitvale, roughly 3.5 to 4 miles away.
