Overview
- Oakland Police Department and other city agencies are prohibited from assisting ICE or taking direction from the National Guard or other federal troops.
- City-owned and controlled properties cannot be used for staging, processing or operations related to federal civil immigration enforcement.
- City departments will install signage and, where needed, physical barriers to prevent federal immigration activities on municipal property.
- The Protect The Town task force will coordinate interdepartmental responses, educate residents about their rights and prepare for potential federal deployments.
- The mayor’s office says it will pursue legal options with the city attorney and California attorney general if federal troops are unilaterally deployed, while OPD emphasized it remains safe to call 911.
