OAB‑SP Seeks Transfer of Deolane From Tupi Paulista to Sala de Estado‑Maior

Deolane Bezerra has been in preventive custody at the Complexo Penal de Tupi Paulista since May 21, 2026 and was formally denounced in Operação Vérnix on charges of criminal organization and money laundering linked to the PCC.
The Superior Tribunal de Justiça rejected her habeas corpus in early June, with the relator saying preventive detention was justified to protect public order.
On June 22, 2026 OAB‑SP and the Federal Council asked to join a habeas corpus seeking her transfer to a Sala de Estado‑Maior after a technical inspection concluded Tupi Paulista has a penitentiary character.
A separate habeas corpus at the São Paulo Court of Justice remains pending after relatora Renata Rached voted to deny relief and desembargador Leme Garcia requested a view, with a virtual session due to conclude on June 24.
OAB‑SP says its action is institutional and limited to defending lawyer prerogatives while the seccional’s Ethics Tribunal is also investigating possible disciplinary measures against Deolane.
