Overview
- The National Weather Service, which surveyed damage Thursday, said two tornadoes hit Clinton on Wednesday, rating the first EF1 and the second EF0.
- Survey teams found the first tornado began around 6:03 p.m. south-southwest of the city, strengthened to EF1 near East Calvird Road, and ended about 6:07 p.m. after a 2.5-mile track.
- A separate EF0 formed around 6:09 p.m. near East Lincoln Street, traveled about 1.8 miles along the Katy Trail area, and crossed Highway 7 with estimated winds near 70 mph.
- Local officials reported no injuries, and about 2,000 residents were without power Wednesday evening after downed lines and structural damage across parts of the city.
- The Clinton School District shifted to an AMI virtual day for cleanup and safety, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol sent three troopers to assist in the response.
