NVIDIA Retires GeForce Control Panel After 20 Years

The move consolidates GPU settings into a single Nvidia App as the company shifts users to a modern management client.

Overview

  • Nvidia announced Tuesday that it has officially retired the legacy GeForce/Nvidia Control Panel for Game Ready and Studio drivers, completing the active migration of supported features into the Nvidia App.
  • Existing Control Panel installs will remain on users’ PCs unless they perform a clean driver install, and the app will stay available from the Microsoft Store but will not receive new features or fixes.
  • Nvidia is keeping the Control Panel supported for RTX PRO professional users until required professional features are migrated into the Nvidia App, creating a temporary exception for enterprise workflows.
  • The Nvidia App now handles driver downloads and installation, game-specific settings, and DLSS toggles, though several settings have been reorganized so users will need to relearn where options like program-specific 3D controls and display settings live.
  • Nvidia published Game Ready driver 610.47 alongside the retirement, with optimizations for recent releases such as 007 First Light and support for Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, capping a multi-year migration effort that began more than two years ago.
