NUH and NUS Medicine Launch Imaging Centre With Singapore’s First Total-Body PET/CT

Clinical use is slated for early November, promising faster scans with lower radiation exposure.

Overview

  • The Siemens Biograph Vision Quadra delivers roughly eightfold higher detection sensitivity than conventional PET/CT, cutting scan times to under five minutes and lowering radiation dose by up to 80 percent.
  • A 106 cm field of view—more than four times standard systems—allows single-position whole-body imaging and boosts patient throughput.
  • NUH expects to serve about 2,900 to 3,000 patients annually while running clinical trials, dynamic whole-body studies and theranostics research.
  • NUH, NUS Medicine and Siemens Healthineers signed a memorandum of understanding on Oct 16 to collaborate on diagnostics, translational research and technological innovation.
  • NUH says patient fees will not increase with the deployment of the new scanner housed at the NUH Medical Centre.
