Overview
- The expanded choice replaces the previous two-city cap and is limited to cities within a candidate’s state of permanent or present residence.
- Allotments remain subject to availability after NTA trimmed the network to 292 centres across 272 Indian cities and 16 overseas locations.
- Candidates who have already applied may add or modify their exam-city preferences during the January 18–20 correction window on the official portal.
- Exam design is unchanged: 157 subjects, 75 questions per paper, 90-minute duration, and up to four paper codes may be selected.
- The computer-based test is slated for March 2026 and remains the primary route to postgraduate admissions at central and other participating universities.
