Overview
- About 40 people on e-bikes and some motorcycles were filmed riding illegally on the main deck of the Sydney Harbour Bridge on Tuesday afternoon, performing U-turns and wheelies in traffic.
- Police were called around 4:30pm but did not pursue the group for safety reasons; officers later spoke to the riders at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair about 5:30pm before dispersing them.
- No injuries, property damage, arrests or charges were reported, though police noted riding a bicycle on the bridge carries a $460 fine and said inquiries are ongoing.
- Assistant Commissioner David Driver labelled the conduct “incredibly irresponsible, stupid and downright dangerous” and urged parents to confront children seen in the widely shared videos.
