Overview
- Prosecutors told the court that yellow rope kept in Renny Palmer’s shed looked like the rope used to tie rocks to Jason Palmer’s body before it was dumped in the Nepean River.
- The Crown said blood in the boot of Ms Palmer’s red Ford station wagon matched Mr Palmer’s DNA, which they argue shows the car carried his body to the river.
- Prosecutors allege Mr Palmer was hit with a glass object and then stabbed in a Lakemba unit before his body was wrapped in a sleeping bag and thrown into the river.
- The defence opened by saying the case rests on circumstantial inferences and does not prove beyond reasonable doubt that Gofal Baziad killed his friend.
- Mr Baziad has pleaded not guilty and left Australia in March 2004 before returning years later, and the court expects to hear from Ms Palmer next week.
