Nürburgring 24 Hours Result Left Provisional After Abt Lamborghini Fails Dyno Check

A technical report to the stewards says the No. 84 Lamborghini exceeded Balance of Performance power limits, risking disqualification that could reshuffle the podium.

Overview

  • Race organiser ADAC confirmed irregularities were found in the post-race inspection of the No. 84 Red Bull Team ABT Lamborghini and that the official results remain provisional.
  • The delayed rolling-road dyno test reportedly showed the car produced about 20 brake horsepower more than the BoP reference, which exceeds the 2 percent tolerance (roughly 10 bhp on a 500 bhp engine).
  • The dyno measurement was postponed because a defective clutch prevented the initial test, the clutch was replaced under supervision at the McChip facility in Mechernich, and a re-test then produced the disputed readings.
  • The technical commissioners have sent their report to the race stewards, who will hold a hearing giving Abt a chance to respond, and any disqualification could be appealed to the DMSB within 96 hours so a final outcome may take weeks.
  • If the No. 84 entry is disqualified, Walkenhorst’s Aston Martin would move up to second and ROWE’s BMW to third, and the finding underscores how post-race power checks and BoP enforcement can alter race placings and team reputations.
