Novara Teen Alleges Years of Beatings, Parents Denounced After AI Chat Spurs Call for Help

Authorities are pursuing a maltreatment case with the boy now in social services custody.

Overview

  • The 15-year-old told Novara police he was punished for low grades since about age six, reporting beatings at least three times a week.
  • He described being struck with a belt, charger wires, a broom, a wooden stick, kitchen utensils and tree branches.
  • After confiding in a friend’s family and consulting an AI app that said the situation was not normal, he called 112 on January 24.
  • Officers took him to the Questura, where he was interviewed with a psychologist and said he did not want to return home.
  • Police say a friend and the friend’s father confirmed his account; the boy was placed with social services and his 54-year-old father and 42-year-old mother were reported for maltreatment.
