- The company issued a voluntary recall after the FDA posted the notice on Friday, Aug. 28, covering 72 cases and a total of 1,956 pounds of frozen raw cat and dog food.
- The recall applies to 53 cases of the 2-pound Frozen Chicken Recipe for cats (Lot B-5, UPC 087316384956, best-by Jan. 26, 2028) and 19 cases of the 6-pound Frozen Raw Diet for Dogs Chicken Recipe (Lot B-19, UPC 087316380392, best-by Jan. 25, 2028).
- Laboratory testing showed the 2-pound Frozen Chicken Recipe tested positive for Salmonella while the 6-pound dog product tested positive for both Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes.
- Consumers are advised to stop using the products, return unused food for a full refund or dispose of it safely, and thoroughly wash and sanitize hands, bowls, utensils, surfaces and storage areas that contacted the food; contact a veterinarian or health provider if illness is suspected.
- Public-health officials note that commercial raw pet foods do not undergo a heat-treatment kill step, which helps explain why raw diets are a recurring source of bacterial recalls and a particular risk to young children, pregnant people, older adults and immunocompromised household members.
