Northern Railway Schedules Katra–Srinagar Special Trains for Jan 27–28

The move offers a rail fallback during ongoing weather disruptions.

Overview

  • Two reserved specials will run between SMVD Katra and Srinagar on January 27 and 28 with an en-route halt at Banihal.
  • On January 27, the train departs SMVD Katra at 8:10 am and reaches Srinagar at 11:00 am, then returns from Srinagar at 2:00 pm to arrive at 5:00 pm.
  • On January 28, the outbound leaves SMVD Katra at 10:30 am to arrive at 1:30 pm, with the return scheduled 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm using the same stop pattern.
  • Officials said the services follow the Vande Bharat route to ensure two train options on those days, with the plan set under DRM (Jammu) Vivek Kumar and cited by SDCM Uchit Singhal after fresh snowfall warnings.
  • Railways proposed a rake with AC-3 tier and AC-3 economy coaches and sought RPF security clearance, as the highway only partially reopened and recent flights saw disruptions with more snow forecast for Jan 26–27.
