Overview
- NFR commissioned a full renovation of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway locomotive No. 808‑C and placed it as an upgraded heritage exhibit at its Maligaon headquarters.
- The display was formally inaugurated by NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava in the presence of senior railway officials and staff.
- The C&W Workshop at New Bongaigaon carried out the restoration under NFR supervision, performing repairs, repainting, and conservation work on the locomotive.
- No. 808 is a 4-6-2 Pacific-class engine built in Glasgow in 1914 that once hauled freight of up to 800 tonnes on the Kishanganj Extension before serving as a shunting pilot and being decommissioned in the 1960s.
- NFR added decorative lighting and real sound and smoke effects to the exhibit to attract visitors and promote awareness of steam-era engineering and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway's heritage.
