Northeast Brazil Crime Updates: Two Killed in Ceará Raid, Arrest in Piauí Kidnapping, Penalties After Porto de Galinhas Assault

  • Military police in São João do Jaguaribe, Ceará, killed two 22-year-old suspects tied to the forced displacement of families from Uiraponga linked to TCP–GDE conflict, seizing three firearms, 121 rounds, drugs and two motorcycles.
  • Ceará’s interior tactical unit (Bepi/Cotar) acted on Civil Police intelligence, and investigators say GDE figure Gilberto “Mingau” Cazuza remains a wanted fugitive connected to the dispute that drove the expulsions.

  • In Moreno, Greater Recife, fuel-station owner Alexandrino Ferreira Júnior was executed beside BR-232, with one 26-year-old suspect arrested in flagrante and held under hospital custody, while in Pará a preventive warrant targets Girlaine Coelho in the shooting death of businessman Alexandre Araújo and she remains at large.
