Overview
- Police and paramedics were called to a Kingsway address on 30 January where a three-month-old boy, referred to as Baby A, was found unresponsive and taken to hospital with significant injuries.
- Baby A died in hospital on 17 February and a post-mortem examination is scheduled to establish the cause of death.
- The parents, Dounia Chetaouat, 32, and Abdelkader Essid, 44, have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on 23 February after 14:00.
- The pair were arrested on 30 January on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, charged on 2 February with causing or allowing serious physical harm, and charged on 18 February with murder and causing or allowing the death of a child.
- Detectives are appealing for information using reference CAD 2297/31JAN via 101 or @MetCC on X, with anonymous tips accepted by Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
