North Carolina Elections Board Disqualifies Margot Dupre From GOP Senate Primary

Overview

• The State Board of Elections voted 3-1 to find Dupre ineligible for the March 3 Republican U.S. Senate primary, with Bob Rucho, Stacey “Four” Eggers IV and Jeff Carmon in favor, Siobhan Millen dissenting, and Chair Francis De Luca absent.
• Dupre listed a Charlotte UPS Store on her voter registration and testified she lives out of a camper and hotels while acknowledging a Florida driver’s license, Florida-registered vehicles and a camper parked at her Florida home.
• Votes already cast for Dupre will be counted because ballots are printed and some voting has begun, but any primary win would be vacated and the Republican Party would name a replacement nominee.
• Dupre said she will appeal the decision to the North Carolina Court of Appeals and could pursue a write-in or unaffiliated candidacy.
• The challenge was filed by Republican voter Jerry Reinoehl and joined by activist Jay Delancey as Republicans vie for the open seat that Sen. Thom Tillis is leaving.
