Noida Police File FIR Against Karnataka IPS Officer, Six Others Over Dowry Harassment Allegations

Police say questioning of the seven named accused will follow during the probe.

  • The FIR names 2019-batch IPS officer Shivanshu Rajput, posted with the State Crime Record Bureau in Bengaluru, after a complaint by his wife, Noida-based doctor Dr. Kriti Singh.
  • Police said the case has been registered under specific provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, as well as sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.
  • In a 41-page complaint filed on October 16, Dr. Singh alleged sustained dowry demands, physical and mental harassment, and threats after confronting her husband over alleged relationships.
  • The couple married in December 2021 in Agra and have a young son, and the complainant stated her family spent over Rs 2 crore on the wedding while she now lives separately with the child.
  • Officials in Gautam Buddha Nagar said the FIR followed her approach to the Women’s Safety division, and Sector 126 police will record statements before determining further action.
