N.J. Sergeant Charged After Allegedly Skipping 911 Shooting Calls for ATM and Pizza

A Nov. 5 court date now follows charges tied to GPS-tracked detours plus a report prosecutors call false.

Overview

  • Hunterdon County prosecutors charged Sgt. Kevin Bollaro with official misconduct and tampering, alleging he failed to properly investigate Aug. 1 911 reports of gunshots and screaming in Pittstown.
  • GPS logs and surveillance indicate he drove to a TD Bank ATM, then spent about 50 minutes at Duke’s Pizzeria and nearly an hour at the Pittstown Inn instead of canvassing the reported addresses.
  • Investigators say he did not activate emergency lights, skipped visits to the second and third callers, left portions of the shift without body-worn camera footage, and later filed statements that contradict the data.
  • The next day, Lauren Semanchik, 33, and Tyler Webb, 29, were found fatally shot about 600 feet from the first caller’s location; prosecutors attribute the killings to State Police Lt. Ricardo Santos, who died by suicide.
  • Bollaro has been on administrative leave since Aug. 2, faces up to 10 years in custody and a $150,000 fine if convicted, has a Nov. 5 court date, and his lawyer argues his actions could not have altered the outcome while families seek maximum penalties.
