Overview
- NIT Rourkela, which announced the expansion Wednesday, will start two B.Tech and two M.Tech programmes in 2026–27 to train students for fast-growing fields like AI, chips and quantum tech.
- The B.Tech in Mathematics & Computing and the B.Tech in Engineering Physics will each take 25 students through JEE Main, the national undergraduate engineering test.
- The M.Tech in Semiconductor Devices and Technology will admit 15 students through GATE, the national postgraduate engineering exam, with training in IC fabrication, wafer processes, device testing, packaging, modeling and advanced materials.
- The M.Tech in Machine Learning and Signal Analysis will offer 12 seats through GATE and cover deep learning, speech and image processing, autonomous systems, wireless links and biomedical signals.
- Institute officials said the curricula stress hands-on labs and industry projects and align with NEP 2020 as well as missions in semiconductors, quantum research and space.
