Nissan Unveils Leaner Lineup and Hybrid-First Roadmap at Vision Event

The pivot bets on hybrids to cut costs.

Overview

  • Nissan, following Tuesday's Vision event in Yokohama, said it will shrink its global range from 56 to 45 models to concentrate funding on higher-volume vehicle families.
  • The next-generation Rogue/X-Trail will bring Nissan’s e-Power hybrid to North America later this year, using a gas engine only as a generator while electric motors drive the wheels.
  • Nissan revealed the Juke as a Europe-focused EV built in the U.K. on the CMF-EV platform with a planned 2027 market debut, reinforcing a selective approach to full battery-electric launches.
  • The company teased a revived Xterra for the U.S. with production in America, a late-2028 launch target, a new body-on-frame platform, and V6 and V6-hybrid powertrains.
  • Nissan outlined regional priorities that put the U.S., China and Japan at the core, targets about one million annual U.S./Canada sales by 2030, and designates China as an export base for models such as the N7 sedan and Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid pickup.
