Nissan Shifts Lineup Toward China-Built EVs as Juke EV Heads to Europe

Executives say Dongfeng models could fill gaps pending local testing, right-hand-drive work.

Overview

  • The third-generation Juke, revealed Wednesday at Nissan’s Vision event, will launch as a full EV in Europe and the UK in spring 2027.
  • Nissan Australia says it will not sell the new Juke or the third-generation Leaf, leaving the Ariya as its only EV for now as tougher efficiency rules shape its range.
  • Through its Dongfeng tie-up, Nissan has launched the NX8 in China with full-electric and range-extended options, BEV deliveries already underway, a claimed 650 km CLTC range, and more than 8,000 early bookings.
  • Nissan has begun exporting the China-built Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid pickup, and company teams have tested China-made vehicles in Australia to tune powertrains and check towing and off-road capability before any launch decisions.
  • Under the Re:Nissan restructuring, the company is trimming its global lineup to focus on profitable electrified models, with an X-Trail e-Power for Australia not expected before late 2027.
