Nissan Recalls 642,698 Rogue SUVs Over Engine Seizure and Throttle Failures

Notifications to owners start March 27 following the Feb. 19 NHTSA filings.

Overview

  • Two campaigns cover 323,917 model-year 2023–2025 Rogues for engine oil overheating that can seize bearings and raise fire risk, and 318,781 model-year 2024–2025 Rogues for throttle-gear failures that can cut power.
  • Dealers will reprogram engine-control software, inspect vehicles, and replace throttle bodies or entire engines if metal debris is found, all free of charge.
  • Nissan reported 690 engine-related and 3,111 throttle-related warranty claims tied to these issues, with no crashes or injuries reported to date.
  • Affected vehicle identification numbers will be searchable on NHTSA’s website starting Feb. 27, and owner letters are scheduled to mail on March 27.
  • The engine-bearing action expands a prior recall tied to VC‑Turbo defects under federal investigation since 2023, and Nissan estimates about 0.6% of vehicles in that group may need full engine replacements.
