Nissan Launches All‑New Kicks in Japan With Third‑Gen e‑POWER and Optional e‑4ORCE AWD

Designed to raise fuel efficiency, the Kicks uses an engine‑as‑generator hybrid to sharpen Nissan’s compact‑SUV competitiveness.

Overview

  • Nissan began sales in Japan on Thursday, June 18, offering the all‑new Kicks with the third‑generation e‑POWER hybrid system for the first time in the domestic market.
  • The e‑POWER setup uses the combustion engine only to generate electricity for the drive motor, which Nissan says improves fuel efficiency by more than 10 percent and delivers quieter, EV‑like driving.
  • For the first time on Kicks, an optional e‑4ORCE electric all‑wheel‑drive system adds a rear motor that contributes about 68 PS and 140 Nm to improve traction and cornering.
  • Japan pricing starts just under ¥3 million for the base model and tops out around ¥4,248,200 for the flagship G with AWD, with a Rock Creek rugged trim to debut this summer and reach customers in winter.
  • The Japan model is built at Oppama and features a larger 1.4‑litre generator engine, higher motor outputs, CMF‑B platform upgrades, dual 12.3‑inch displays and standard ProPILOT, and Nissan plans to shift Oppama vehicle assembly out by March 2028.
