Overview
- Nio officially unveiled the ES9 and began customer deliveries in China on May 28, positioning the three-row SUV as the company’s flagship with a 102 kWh battery and up to 620 km CLTC range.
- The company cut launch prices by 30,000 yuan across all trims so the base ES9 starts at 498,000 yuan or 390,000 yuan under Battery-as-a-Service, which separates the battery cost into a monthly lease.
- Nio pre-staged at least 6,000 ES9 units and reported strong pre-order momentum with more than 50,000 reservations reported by local outlets, figures that dealers say could convert into over 25,000 firm orders.
- The ES9 uses Nio’s 900V NT3.0 architecture, a 520 kW (697 hp) dual-motor powertrain, steer-by-wire, active suspension and the company’s swap-compatible 102 kWh CATL pack to enable three-minute battery swaps at its network of swap stations.
- Investors and analysts reacted positively with Nio’s U.S.-listed shares rising about 8–10% and several brokerages raising delivery forecasts and targets, while the company says the ES9 ramp and planned fifth-generation swap-station rollout are central to Q2–Q3 delivery and margin goals.
