Overview
- Both the full-size and cardboard Virtual Boy viewers support VR modes in Super Mario Odyssey, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.
- The Switch 2 edition of Breath of the Wild retains its VR option, allowing the entire game to be played in VR on the upgraded hardware.
- The accessories use the Labo-style dual-image lenses with motion tracking, enabling stereoscopic 3D without new software builds.
- The cardboard viewer is preferred for these VR modes because it allows free head movement, while the desk-mounted unit is static and ships with a removable red filter.
- The headsets are sold exclusively via the My Nintendo Store, launch February 17 alongside the Nintendo Classics: Virtual Boy app, and are priced at about $100 for the hardware unit or $25 for the cardboard version.
