- Nintendo made the DK Challenge available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers starting in early June, and the event will run through 1 September.
- The DK Challenge is a free, time-limited app of curated tasks drawn from multiple Donkey Kong titles that players access from the Nintendo Switch Online home page.
- Players complete skill-based tasks such as barrel-transport and minecart runs to earn digital challenge cards as rewards.
- Donkey Kong Bananza’s Emerald Rush DLC began its first Mario-themed wave on 9 June and will roll out three more limited waves that offer exclusive DK and Pauline outfits plus Power-Up Blocks and Mushrooms.
- Nintendo’s use of short, gated waves and beginner through ‘Developer Challenges’ aims to boost short-term engagement and make crossover cosmetics and power-ups ephemeral rewards that motivate play and purchases.
