Overview
- INGV identified an ongoing seismic swarm in the southern Tyrrhenian Sea between Alicudi and Palermo.
- At least 15 events occurred within a few hours, with the strongest at magnitude 4.6 at 02:46 followed by a 4.3 at 02:49.
- The M4.6 quake was located north of Cefalù and west of Alicudi at a depth of about 29 kilometers.
- Numerous smaller aftershocks between magnitude 2.0 and 3.0 followed the two principal quakes.
- Shaking was widely felt along the Palermo–Messina coastal corridor, and no injuries or damage have been reported so far.
