Overview
- Niantic, which announced the plan Tuesday, set in‑person events for Tokyo (May 29–June 1), Chicago (June 5–7), and Copenhagen (June 12–14) ahead of a global weekend on July 11–12.
- The global Go Fest will be free for the first time, giving all players access to Special Research, boosted shiny encounter rates, and event bonuses without a paid ticket.
- Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y will debut in new Super Mega Raids that grant dedicated Mega Energy, with in‑person attendees choosing one form first through branching Timed Research.
- During the global weekend, both Mega Mewtwo forms will appear in Super Mega Raids, and players can earn Mega Energy X or Mega Energy Y to evolve their own Mewtwo.
- Mega progression is getting faster as raid‑caught Mewtwo start with at least one Mega Level unlocked and players can spend extra Mega Energy without a cooldown, with progress now tracked separately for each form.
