NIA Files Chargesheet Against Nine, Including Two Pakistan Nationals, Over Sirsa Grenade Attack

The federal probe says Pakistan-based handlers directed India-based operatives through social media and encrypted channels and investigators are probing wider foreign and financial links.

Overview

  • The NIA filed the chargesheet on May 26, 2026, naming nine accused and submitting evidence to a Special NIA Court in Panchkula.
  • Two Pakistan-based handlers, Shahzad Bhatti and Sohail Ahmad (alias Sohail Baloch), are accused of recruiting and directing the India-based operatives.
  • The nine are charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Explosive Substances Act.
  • Investigators say the November 25, 2025 attack on the Sirsa women’s police station caused no casualties, used a grenade procured in Amritsar, and was filmed for publicity.
  • The NIA says its case rests on digital, electronic, documentary and forensic evidence and it is continuing to track absconding suspects and probe wider foreign linkages and financial channels.
