NIA Carries Out Synchronized Raids at Nine Sites in J&K in Red Fort Blast Probe

The agency is pursuing evidence on a support network alleged to have enabled the 2025 car-bomb plot.

Overview

  • NIA teams conducted coordinated searches at nine locations across Jammu and Kashmir as part of the Red Fort bombing investigation.
  • Sites included Handwara in Kupwara, Rafiabad in Baramulla, and multiple locations in Srinagar and Kulgam, with operations underway.
  • Searches targeted premises linked to already arrested suspects, including the residence of Dr Bilal Naseer Malla and a businessman’s home in Guloora, Handwara.
  • The operation was carried out under case RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI with support from Jammu & Kashmir Police and the CRPF, where teams checked documents and devices.
  • Investigators say 11 people have been arrested to date, and the suicide bomber was identified as Dr Umer Un Nabi, an assistant professor at Al-Falah University, with some reporting describing the module as a professional ‘white-collar’ cell.
